Rosie is a 2 year old orange wing Amazon parrot.  She enjoys being out of her cage on a playstand near you.  She will need a patient forever home with someone able to provide her with a lot of attention.

She enjoys being in the same room with you, sitting on her stand, while you work or watch tv.  She is hand shy and will let out a squak if you move your hand near her but she has not bitten.  All birds can bite.  She is stick trained but she prefers for you to open her cage door to let her come out on her own.  Once on top of her cage she will step up on a stick, and sometimes your hand. 

With a patient owner who can give her time to build trust she will be a great companion.  She does step up easily and without squaking for my 12 year old son.  Currently she is being fostered in a home with 3 dogs and she does not seem to mind them.  She is not food motivated so training will require patience.  She does say a few words and imitate other sounds like Hi, what ya doin, peek a boo, good girl,  trys to sing, so with constant interaction, song, and speach, she will likely learn many more words.  She is vocal, as are most birds, but seems to be the most vocal when not near you.  She is learing to like the shower.  And showers are necessary to  keep Amazon's in good feather.

Rosie will make a wonderful life companion for someone who can provide her time and attention as she develops trust and figures out her vocal abilities.  She is currently eating Roudybush pellets, nutriberries, and a variety of fresh veggies and fruits.  She particularily likes apples!
