Phoebe is a 20+ year old blue and gold macaw who has a lot of love to give, despite having fewer feathers than usual. She developed plucking behavior in her previous home and does still pluck on occasion. We keep her occupied with toys she can preen such as fleece scraps and sisal rope. She loves wooden blocks and will spend hours chewing on them. As long as she has fresh food and something to chew on, she is a pretty quiet girl but she definitely can make some noise! She is willing to try new foods if we offer it to her and her favorites are fruits! She would be an awesome bird for someone who is home in the evenings as she is most cuddly and affectionate around 5pm. She does strongly prefer women to men, but with time, may get more comfortable with them. Big bird experience is definitely recommended as she does have what we call "crab salad" moments. As her foster family, we love her so much and we just know she's going to make her forever family very happy!
